SafeMoon Wallet Release 4.0

Written by VGX Foundation | Sep 19, 2024 4:17:08 PM

The VGX Foundation is thrilled to revive the popular SafeMoon Wallet.

Beta Testing for V4.0 is currently in progress. Click here to apply.

Background:

On December 14th, 2023, SafeMoon US, LLC. filed for Chapter 7 Bankruptcy in the State of Utah (USA). As the Trustee for the Estate began the liquidation process, the highly sought-after SafeMoon Wallet emerged as a valuable cornerstone of the company's assets. With a widespread following and over 1.2 million downloads, the SafeMoon Wallet continues to be extremely popular and in demand within the community. The VGX Foundation was fortunate to be able to acquire the Wallet through public auction, then moved quickly to onboard the SafeMoon Development Team. This enabled the VGX Foundation to swiftly commence the rebuilding and relaunching process.

What's New in V4.0:

On the surface, the SafeMoon Wallet retains all the beloved features and functionality that users have come to expect. It boasts a user-friendly interface, enabling seamless sending, receiving, and trading of cryptocurrencies across many of the most popular blockchains in decentralized finance (DeFi). The wallet features a built-in NFT module that allows for easy viewing, sharing, and trading of your digital collectibles. It also includes an innovative calculator that updates your balance and current prices for any supported token in real-time, including those you import. The application offers extensive support for a multitude of global currencies and includes an integrated currency converter. A powerful dApp browser seamlessly connects you to the expansive world of Web3 and DeFi. Additionally, a robust portfolio tracker and an integrated Swap feature enhance the comprehensive suite of tools available to users.

“Under the hood” is where the bulk of the heavy lifting has occurred. The SafeMoon Wallet has undergone a comprehensive overhaul. After acquiring the wallet, nearly every line of code needed to be revamped, upgraded, and refreshed, alongside the necessary backend services, data providers, and third-party integrations to support a user base of hundreds of thousands. This monumental task also included thorough testing, transferring ownership of associated accounts, and navigating complex legal, compliance, and regulatory requirements. In industry terms, this has truly been an EPIC effort.

What to expect:

If you are a previous user of the SafeMoon Wallet you will notice a change to the application login procedure. As a result of the bankruptcy, the legacy login system (SOS) was discontinued and all third party servers subsequently went offline, along with any associated encrypted data. Moving forward, all you'll need to do is set up a personalized password for logging in. This password will be specific to each application installation, independent of any external servers, and securely stored solely on your device.

The above screen will appear when updating from any legacy version that has wallets already loaded locally on your device.

Updating and Installation:

When updating from a previous version which already had wallets imported to the application on your device, our team has made considerable effort to ensure these wallets are preserved and available to you when you update to V4.0*

There are three different scenarios we have covered to help you in a seamless installation/update process:

1. Fresh installation (the application is not already present on your device)
  • Import or create a wallet and set a unique password to unlock full access to the application.
2. Updating from legacy versions 2.78 or earlier (versions that already used local password login only)
  • Any wallets previously loaded in the application will seamlessly transition and remain accessible in V4.0
  • You'll need to set up a fresh password for V4.0 to continue accessing the app going forward.
3. Updating from legacy versions 3.32-3.54 (used the legacy login system)
  • Any wallets you had already loaded in the application will still be available in V4.0, as long as you had installed versions 3.32-3.54, imported or created wallets, and did not uninstall the application. Since the wallets exist on your device, no remote server communication is needed during the upgrade process.*
  • You will need to create a new password for V4.0 to access the app moving forward.
  • Your legacy login username + password + security questions/answers will no longer be used.

New Splash Screen
When you first launch V4.0, get ready to be greeted by a dynamic splash screen announcing the exciting news of the application's new ownership.
Language and Currency
Legacy users will already be familiar with the prompt to choose your preferred language and currency settings.
Import or Create a Wallet
If no wallets are present in your previous build, or you are freshly installing the app,  you will be prompted to import or create a wallet to proceed.
Setting a Password
All users will be prompted to create a unique password for this device installation. Be sure to write it down and save it in a safe location!

Additional Information:

The wallet supports importing or creating multiple wallets and switching between them on a single installation. In order to do so, simply navigate to Tools Manage Wallets → My Wallets, click the "+" sign to add additional wallets.

The familiar "My Wallets" setting located in the Tools menu. From here you will be able to prompt the new wallet import or creation screen.

Wallets that you import or create are available to you only on this installation. When installing the application on a different device or if freshly installing (not updating from previous), you will need to import your recovery phrases and/or private keys again in order to access your wallet(s). We do not store anything on any remote servers. Your application password and your recovery phrases are yours and yours alone, and we have no ability to help you recover them.

Cryptocurrency Best Practices:

It's crucial to always document your recovery phrases, private keys, and wallet passwords on paper and store them in a secure, accessible location known only to you. This proactive step ensures that, in case of any unexpected issues, you can independently restore and access your wallet(s) without needing assistance from any third party.

After completing your update or new installation, you will once again have access to one of the most feature rich and user friendly crypto applications on the market:

The SafeMoon Wallet.

*For users who had their wallets synced to the previous company's legacy login system (SOS), did not securely store their recovery phrases or private keys offline, and uninstalled the application, we cannot support the recovery of those wallets. When the legacy system went offline as a byproduct of the bankruptcy, your ability to "speak" to a remote server and decrypt your synced wallets also became unsupported.
